The book I am reading is The Wright 3 by Elizabeth Balleitt Klein. The publisher of this magnificent book is the Scholastic Press. The copyright date was 2006.
The genre of my book is mystery. I know that this is the genre of my book because a mytery book is known as fiction. I know this because as you read on into the story it gives you little hints that the book is a mystery. By stating that there "once was a girl who believed she could solve this" In the book they had stated this. Throughout the book they would drop little hints just shouting out two you "hey this is a mystery book" I thought it was pretty cool!
If the book was non-fiction it would have a whole back ground info spot (meaning a little summary) on that specific person but this book does not which makes it fiction.
The cover of my book shows two boys and a girl. Behind them there is a creepy looking building that I think is their school. It is full of many colors. From Light browns to dark browns. In the windows you can see that the lights are on and they are bright. The boy on the left up close side of the book is holding some type of like food or object. The moon is laid down slightly beneath the trees. You can barley see it. I have not met any characters yet due to the fact that they are going over like the mystery the kids are trying to solve.

Lizzy,
ReplyDeleteNice set up. I like how you use the purple to accent important parts. You are the first person who has said why their book can't be non-fiction, after stating what genre it is. Nice way to push yourself.
Grade: 5
Next Steps:
Presentation: remember to italicize your title. copyright is one word.
Punctuation: are you quoting the book when you talk about how you know the genre? If yes what punctuation goes around the quote?
Grammar: Your sentence about the date - you don't say 'is in' but rather 'was'.
Organization: Your last two sentences in your genre paragraph aren't complete. Look them over.
Details: Explain what "a spot about them" means in your 3rd paragraph. Be specific.
There is more to your cover so be specific about colors and words.
How could you not meet any characters if someone is describing the mystery? Is the narrator talking??
To get advanced: 1. Put all bibliography info in one sentence like we did.
2. explain why you are reading the book and why you think it is magnificent.
3. Did the cover interest you?
Hey Liz,
ReplyDeleteYou have a great blog I personally like how you made sure your followers knew the important stuff by making it a different color. Well it was interesting how you stated how the book would be if it was a non-ficton novel while also, explaining the acctual genre and why it was that genre. In addition, you explain where your at very well and I like that and you even make me want to read the book.
Lizzy,
ReplyDeleteThank you for using your feedback. You fleshed out the cover and how you know the genre really well. You earned a 7, I can't give you an 8 because you still have some grammar and punctuation issues.
You usually need comma's around things that are quoted. As for the grammar - read it aloud.
